Stand up for life

For weeks, all of Quebec has been talking about Bill 2 on physician salaries. But while the population is divided on this issue, an even more fundamental bill is quietly making its way through the legislative process: Bill 1, known as the “Quebec Constitution.”

This seriously flawed bill seeks to establish the right to kill an unborn child as a “fundamental freedom.” Such an act is not only a grave injustice — the killing of an innocent human being — but also a direct threat to the demographic survival of a people who once had families of 12 or 15 children and who today struggle to reach a rate of 1.33 children per woman.

The bill also enshrines a so-called right to euthanasia, giving doctors the power to cause the death of vulnerable people as part of their “medical” function. Medicine thus becomes a promoter of death, serving a utilitarian view of human beings: we are worthless if we no longer produce anything.

Finally, the proposed Constitution reaffirms a “secular Quebec” that denies the Christian heritage that has shaped our collective identity. Under the guise of neutrality, state atheism—clearly outlined in the recent Pelchat-Rousseau report—is positioning itself to abolish all funding for religious schools, stifle parishes, and impose on Christian families an educational environment hostile to their faith.

In the face of this offensive, you responded: nearly 600 messages were sent to members of Congress via our platform. If you haven't already done so, we invite you to do the same:

https://en.cqv.qc.ca/contact_your_quebec_representative_today

And above all, since the government has opened a public consultation, we strongly encourage you to fill out the official form:

https://www.assnat.qc.ca/en/travaux-parlementaires/commentaire.html?id=54223&type=Mandat

Your vigilance is already bearing fruit. In Ottawa, thanks to citizen mobilization, recommendations 429 and 430 — which would have stripped religious and pro-life organizations of their charitable status — were not included in the Carney budget. This is a victory for Christianity in Canada.

Late-term abortion

We are told that late-term abortion is “rare” and that it is only performed for “medical reasons.” But what is the reality?

The Canadian pro-life group Right Now conducted an undercover investigation at four abortion clinics to see if it was possible to obtain an abortion without any reason after 20 weeks of pregnancy.

In one of the videos from the investigation, the investigator, who is 21 weeks pregnant, goes to the Sainte-Catherine CLSC in Montreal. There, she is told that she has two weeks to have a “regular” abortion. After that, the procedure would involve injecting the "fetus" with a substance to kill it, then checking at the CLSC that it is indeed dead before going to the hospital to induce labor and give birth to a dead “fetus.”

No reason was asked for... none, at a stage when we can make premature babies live with appropriate care.

Alberta protects children and parental rights

On Tuesday, the Alberta government introduced a bill to add the notwithstanding clause to three laws concerning transgenderism in order to protect them from legal challenges.

These laws prohibit gender transition surgeries and treatments for minors under the age of 16, require parents to be notified of changes to their child's first or last name at school, also make sex education and the teaching of gender identity and sexual orientation to children conditional on parental permission, and prohibit men claiming to be women from participating in women's competitions.

Alberta's move to protect children and parental rights is to be commended and encouraged.

Censorship of Christian thought

American Christian singer Sean Feucht is suing the City of Quebec for canceling his concert at ExpoCité. The cancellation of his booking came amid a campaign of criticism denouncing the singer's pro-life, nationalist, and Christian views. This case, which raises the question of the acceptability of Christian and pro-life discourse in the public sphere, is one to watch closely.

FestiVie 2026: a new chapter for Quebec

April 2026 will see the first edition of FestiVie, organized by QLC, an event set to become the major annual gathering for pro-life and pro-family youth in Quebec.

Why FestiVie? Because we are living in a pivotal moment. The assassination of the prominent American pro-life activist Charlie Kirk, whose courageous testimony touched so many lives, reminds us of the fragility of our mission and the urgency of responding to it with as much faith as determination. His death calls each of us to take up the torch where God has placed us.

For QLC, that place is Quebec — especially its CEGEPs and universities, where so many young people hear nothing but pro-abortion and pro-LGBT slogans.

Hence our plan:

  1. A campus tour (September-March), featuring lectures, workshops, and the creation of sustainable student clubs.
  2. FestiVie (April), a large one or two-day gathering of students, families, speakers, artists, and inspiring witnesses.
  3. Marches for Life (May), in Ottawa and Quebec City, highlighted and supported by the energy of the young people we meet throughout the year.

This is an ambitious project. But thanks to you, it is taking shape.

Marches for Life 2026: Being the voice of the voiceless

We invite you to save these dates now:

  • May 14th: National March for Life in Ottawa
  • May 30th: March for Life – Quebec City

These marches are essential. They serve as a public reminder that more than 100,000 children are aborted each year in Canada — including 20,000 in Quebec — up until the day before they are born. They also remind us that more than 60,000 people have been euthanized in Canada since 2016. They remind us that a world without abortion or euthanasia is possible, because it is based on love, care, and support.

In Quebec City, the march will once again take place in front of the National Assembly. Despite the sometimes aggressive counter-demonstrations that are allowed to flourish, we will never give up peacefully occupying public space.

Our presence in parishes and the Pregnant? Need help? service

Our visits to parishes continue, as does our support for pregnant women in difficulty through Pregnant? Need help?. This service is designed to attract vulnerable women who would otherwise never come into contact with us. Our mission here is clear: to save the unborn child and help the mother.

Sincerely,
For Life,

The Quebec Life Coalition team

Conferences tour

Quebec Life Coalition is launching a project to establish local groups (parishes, churches, student groups, etc.) of Quebec, to root a living commitment to faith, family and life. Several communities have already been visited recently, and these groups serve as a springboard for various initiatives: mobilization for the March for Life, prayer vigils, training in apologetics, support for pregnant women in distress, etc. Invite us to come and talk about it in your community: [email protected] ou 1-855-996-2686.

Say "no" to secularism: Quebec Prays and Canada Prays

Every Wednesday at 6 pm, Christians across Quebec are invited to gather in groups throughout the province to pray the Rosary publicly. We will not be driven from the public square like lepers!

To find a prayer group near you (they exist worldwide, including in English Canada), visit: https://public-rosary.org/

There are also Telegram groups: for Canada https://t.me/CanadaPrays, and for Quebec https://t.me/lequebecprie.

Vigil 365

The Vigil 365 is a prayer vigil where, every day for one or two hours, pro-lifers pray in a public place at a certain distance from an abortuary for the end of abortion.
