Quebec Life Coalition needs your help

The fight to restore a culture of life in Quebec is a long-term endeavor that often requires certain adjustments. Unfortunately, we will not be able to hold the Quebec City March for Life on May 30th.

The many events we organize or participate in require a great deal of effort and resources, which this year have exceeded our team’s capacity, particularly with the launch of our new event, Génération Vie.

Génération Vie, which was conceived as one of our major events — closely followed by the Ottawa March for Life, in which we are heavily invested — was too close to the date we had planned for the Quebec City March for Life.

Does this mean we are abandoning Quebec City? No, but simply that there will be no conventional march in the city this year. In the future, to be able to organize all of these large-scale events, we need your participation and financial support.

Yes, Quebec Life Coalition has been operating for decades thanks to donations and the participation of people of good will.

You may be wondering why we organized Génération Vie if it required so much effort. The purpose of this event is to bring together various groups active in Quebec that share our vision on issues such as abortion, contraception, marriage, family, education, euthanasia, etc. This initiative, in a way more political (in the broad sense of the term), is particularly relevant in this election year.

Our efforts this year have also focused on spreading our message on social media, and we dare to believe that we have contributed to the civilizational debates currently taking place across Quebec, particularly regarding demographic issues.

Press Conference

Recently, QLC, represented by its president, Georges Buscemi, participated in the press conference organized by Campaign Life Coalition on May 12th as one of the events of the National March for Life week.

From left to right: Georges Buscemi of Quebec Life Coalition, Jack Fonseca, Josie Luetke, Pete Baklinski, and Brandan Tran of Campaign Life Coalition, and Aleš Primc of the Movement for Children & Families.

Mr. Buscemi’s address focused largely on the absence of transcendence that characterizes contemporary Quebec society — a lack of vision beyond the material world that leads people to view the pleasures of this world as the ultimate goal of life and pain as the absolute evil, to the point of fleeing it through death brought about by euthanasia:

“But the real question runs deeper. The human being has two dimensions. A horizontal one — the body, matter, pleasure. And a vertical one — the soul, meaning, transcendence, God. Cut the vertical, and only the horizontal is left. And when only matter is left, life becomes a simple calculus of pleasure and pain. Pain then becomes the absolute evil. And when pain is the absolute evil, death becomes a form of care. The death of oneself, first. Then, by contagion, the death of others.

That, in plain words, is what has been happening in Quebec since the Quiet Revolution. We have amputated our own verticality. What we have left is a sad hedonism — one that flees suffering all the way to fleeing into death itself.”

The press conference was attended by Aleš Primc of the Movement for Children & Families, a Slovenian activist who took part in a campaign in his country to secure a “No” vote on euthanasia during a referendum held on the issue. According to Mr. Primc, the success of euthanasia opponents in this Slovenian referendum serves as an example for Canada, because it shows that this battle can be won — and will be won — against the “culture of death”. Mr. Primc states that pro-life activists fought for the elderly and the sick because they need compassion, help, and human connection rather than “poison”.

Candlelight Vigil

Members of QLC also participated on May 13th in the traditional Candlelight Vigil held each year in front of the Canadian Human Rights Monument to commemorate unborn children lost to abortion.

National March for Life

Today takes place the Ottawa’s must-attend National March for Life, where pro-life advocates from across Canada will march through downtown from Parliament Hill to show their support for the unborn child. The gathering on Parliament Hill begins at noon, and the march starts at 1:30 p.m.

QLC Social Event

After the march, QLC is hosting a social event in the basement of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Ottawa, 385 Sussex Drive, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The basement can be accessed directly through the side entrances from Guigues Avenue or St. Patrick Street.

Table at the Pro-Life Expo

We will also be at the Pro-Life Expo on May 14th from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM and from 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM, and on May 15th from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, at the Ottawa Conference & Events Centre, 200 Coventry Road.

Once again, I ask for your support for our cause; without your help, we would not be able to carry out this work. And you know, it is with your support that we plan to do even more.

Make a donation.

With heartfelt thanks,
Augustin Hamilton

Remarks by Georges Buscemi at the May 12th press conference in Ottawa
In 2025, Quebec officially became the world champion of euthanasia. 6,268 Quebecers died by "medical assistance in dying" last year — 7.9% of all our deaths. Thirty‑six percent of all MAiD deaths in Canada take place in our province, even though we make up only twenty‑two percent of the Canadian population. And in March 2027, this "assistance" will be extended to people suffering solely from mental illness.

Rose, now 21, has had a difficult journey. During her childhood, she suffered several traumatic experiences and was bullied at school. She says that these struggles led her to want to dissociate herself from the person she was, to leave behind the Rose who was suffering so much. She even attempted suicide twice.

John Cleese cancels British Columbia tour over fears of LGBT censorship
The famous British Monty Python actor and comedian, John Cleese, has cancelled his visit to British Columbia, which was scheduled to take place as part of his Canadian tour in the autumn. His reason? He is undoubtedly afraid of being sued for making jokes about gender ideology.
