Today, Ash Wednesday, marks the beginning of Lent, a period of penance in preparation for Christ's resurrection at Easter, a period when we are especially called upon to turn away from sin.
“Sin”! Some find it “hateful” to label certain practices as such, rejecting the distinction Christians make between sin and sinner.
However, with Bill C-9 aimed at combating “hatred", Mark Carney's Liberals are precisely endangering our ability to denounce the malice of sinful practices, a necessary step in calling for conversion.
Regarding C-9, Quebec Life Coalition, represented by its president Georges Buscemi, submitted petitions against this bill in Ottawa along with several pro-life organizations. We held a press conference on the same day to explain the purpose of our action. See the video here.

Our own petition against C-9 has reached 1,025 signatures, our goal is 2,000, a big thank you to everyone who signed. If you haven't signed yet, we invite you to do so. We must send a message to the Canadian government that citizens do not want to be censored under the pretext of “hatred.”
Our work to spread information on social media continues. We recently published a post on Facebook about the emerging phenomenon of young men in their early twenties undergoing vasectomies in Quebec. Our post has been viewed more than 500,000 times, attracting a large number of people who oppose our view on the issue. Nevertheless, this particular issue is troubling to a number of people.
Commentator Mathieu Bock-Côté wrote a column in the Journal de Montréal in response to an article published in the same newspaper reporting on a young man who had undergone sterilization. In his article, MBC laments that such a young man would have given up the ability to give life, a decision he may regret later, summarizing this phenomenon as an exhaustion of the vital instinct in society.
Finally, I would like to mention several of our events that are currently underway or will be taking place in the coming months:
- 40 Days for Life, a continuous pro-life witnessing effort lasting 40 days, from February 18th to March 29th, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. (contact: Brian Jenkins at (438) 930-8643).
- Génération Vie: a conference to be held on April 25th to bring together pro-life advocates to establish a culture of life in Quebec.
- The Ottawa March for Life, May 14th from noon to 4 p.m. on Parliament Hill, the largest pro-life gathering in Canada.
- The Quebec City March for Life, May 30, an essential event for spreading the pro-life message in the public sphere.
Sincerely,
For Life,
Augustin Hamilton
Génération Vie conference
On Saturday, April 25th, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., we invite you to join us in Montreal at 740 Roy Street (Sherbrooke metro station) for Génération Vie (formerly FestiVie). We are expecting up to 500 people: several expositions, committed speakers and panelists, and hundreds of pro-life and pro-family Quebecers who care deeply about faith, family, and life, from conception to natural death. It will be a true cultural and political crossroads to strengthen ties between pro-faith, pro-family, and pro-life actors from across the province, to exchange ideas, equip ourselves, and build together. Génération Vie is a must-attend event that is set to grow year after year — we invite you to join us on April 25th and contribute to this great gathering for the future of Quebec. The event is free, but donations will be welcome. Ample parking is available nearby.
The event will be held in French, with possible simultaneous translation (details to follow).
Advance registration is required here.
Ottawa March for Life
May 14th, 2025, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The National March for Life, long the largest annual protest on Parliament Hill, takes place in May to mark the Day of Infamy, when the 1969 omnibus bill opened up the floodgates to abortion. Quebec City March for Life
On Saturday, May 30th, join us in Quebec City for the March for Life, a peaceful and unifying annual event promoting human dignity from conception to natural death. Hundreds of citizens from across Quebec will gather to publicly demonstrate their commitment to life, support women and families, and remind everyone that every human being deserves protection and respect. Your presence matters. Come walk with us on May 30th and raise a clear, courageous, and hopeful voice for life. (Precise itinerary and other details to come.)
Conferences tour
Quebec Life Coalition is launching a project to establish local groups (parishes, churches, student groups, etc.) of Quebec, to root a living commitment to faith, family and life. Several communities have already been visited recently, and these groups serve as a springboard for various initiatives: mobilization for the March for Life, prayer vigils, training in apologetics, support for pregnant women in distress, etc. Invite us to come and talk about it in your community: [email protected] ou 1-855-996-2686.
