"God will not rewrite ... the laws in Quebec," says minister Proulx

The Government of Quebec is currently defending itself before the Superior Court for having banned in June 2023 a Christian event under the pretext that its organizers were "anti-abortion" (i.e.: pro-life).

This ban was originally the initiative of Caroline Proulx, then Minister of Tourism, who was reported by a journalist (don’t be mistaken, their role is not so much to report news as to provoke events and influence) the upcoming holding of the event "Rallye Foi, Feu, Liberté" organized by Harvest Ministries International at the Quebec City Convention Centre.

Upon reading sentences like "the most dangerous place for a child in Canada is its mother’s womb" on the "Harvest Ministries website" (or at least a site that was owned by HMI at the time), Proulx felt "shocked" and forbade the event from taking place. At the time, François Legault fully supported his minister’s gesture: "We will not allow anti-abortion groups to be able to perform large shows in public organims."

Now, in court, defending herself against HMI’s lawsuit for discrimination, Proulx is giving a rather strange speech if it doesn’t reveal her mentality. According to Proulx, whose indignation La Presse reports:

"It’s completely false to claim that the most dangerous place for a child in Canada is his mother’s womb, she said. What this just says, [...] is that women are dangerous."

Let’s stop for a moment. According to the article in La Presse, Ms. Proulx is indignant at the conclusion that one can draw from the premises, but has not bothered to refute the relevance of these premises. If the unborn child is a child in the same way as the child already born, then yes the uterus is a statistically dangerous place for the child since one pregnancy out of five* ends in abortion, a practice that reaps its sinister harvest of about 100,000 babies in Canada per year. Are women then «dangerous»? A number of them are, and for their unborn child since they have it killed. When a practice is not prohibited by law, whatever its immorality, unfortunately a larger or smaller portion of the population will resort to it.

Proulx to outbid: "It’s against the values of the State. The State is resolutely pro-choice and we must ensure as a government that this message is very clear to the population.” We will have understood it...

Proulx also read on the site that several leaders were under "diabolical" influence. The site in question states, according to Proulx: "We pray for a reform that leads to the rewriting of the laws of the country and declare that God will have dominion from coast to coast".

Proulx had some amazing words about this last passage:

“God will not rewrite, Your Honour, the laws in Quebec, and God will not dictate to women in Quebec how and when they can dispose of their bodies.”

Are these the words of an atheist? But she would then have said that God did not exist, that invoking him was therefore not relevant to the drafting of laws. His statement implies that God exists, but that He does not have a say in public and private conduct. This discourse is more that of revolt against God than that of unbelief. When we understand this, we understand the virulence of secularism in Quebec, and we also understand that what drives the government today is not so much atheism, as it defends itself for that matter, but antitheism.

But if God does not "rewrite" the laws of the nation, what will happen to it?

We published about what had outraged Caroline Proulx and about her reaction two posts on Facebook. Don’t hesitate to express your opinion below!
