Judges are often the driving force behind changes in the law, as witness the Morgentaler ruling that created a legal vacuum around abortion in Canada, or the Carter ruling that decriminalised euthanasia. More recently, the Quebec Superior Court ruled that a child could have more than two parents (and what parents!), or rather, let's re-establish perspective, that more than two people could be "parents" of the same child, because it is adults who are claiming this right, not children.
Did you know that in 3 years the use of the abortion pill has doubled in Quebec, making it easier to kill unborn children? This ease of use may have a greater cost than some people think. A recent study shows that more than 10% of women taking the pill suffer serious side-effects within 45 days.
In the face of the anti-culture of death, join us tomorrow, Thursday May 8th, at the National March for Life in Ottawa!
Organised by Campaign Life Coalition (CLC) and promoted by Quebec Life Coalition (QLC), this event is a commemoration of the sad day when abortion was first legalised in Canada (before the current legal vacuum), and a demonstration of respect for life from conception to natural death. It's also an opportunity to meet and network with fervent pro-lifers from across Canada. You can watch the march live on EWTN.
The National March for Life is accompanied by many events. Today was the CLC's press conference, which was attended by a number of media, including the Coop de l'information (Quebec medias), CTV, The Hills and a French-language media outlet. See the photos below.
