Pro-life activism at work

By Arpad Nagy (Quebec Life Coalition)

A lot is happening in pro-life on the political front. With the upcoming federal election, with bad laws constantly being proposed in our parliament and our national assembly, we need to pay close attention to how the pro-life message is addressed.

Here is a little update on what has been going on in my work.

Last week, I met with a pro-life candidate that will be running in my riding. I have also identified several other individuals who are running for office as men and women who respect life from conception. There is a new wind here in Quebec. I don’t know if you feel it. I am convinced that come election time, we will have identified a record-high number of pro-life candidates. I am very encouraged of all the people stepping up to protect life and to endeavour to increase the quality of life of all Quebecers. As there is still open seats in several political parties, I am confident that even more pro-life individuals will step up between now and election time. If you know of any pro-life candidate in your area, please let us know.

In the last two weeks, I organized an English screening of Roe Canada, a French screening of Roe Canada, as well as a French mini-conference for young adults. All three were successful and insightful. We had several good conversations on the state of abortion in our country. Philippe gave a good presentation on pro-life apologetics, and I gave a talk on the different ways we can help the pro-life cause. I will be organizing more of these events—specifically for youth and young adults, but also for our supporters of all ages. We’ll also do events in different cities. Stay tuned for more!

Currently, I am getting ready to go to England. I will be representing Quebec Life Coalition and our national affiliate, Campaign Life Coalition at the second ARC conference. This conference will bring together world leaders who think there is a better way to address today’s most important concerns. I have already contacted a good number of delegates who will be in attendance, many from Christian organizations and pro-life organizations from around the world. I intend to bring to you first-hand accounts of how the fight for life is going on in the other parts of the world. I am particularly interested in Africa, where the sanctity of life is still engrained in their culture. I will send you an update in next week’s email.
