Last Saturday, Quebec Life Coalition hosted Maeve Gainey and Julia Bissonnette from CLCY (Campaign Life Coalition Youth). Our Ontario colleagues, who are responsible for the youth branch of Campaign Life Coalition were here to give a mini-conference to young adults in the Montreal area. It was quite a treat, as they traveled a long way to be here with us.

Maeve gave a solid pro-life apologetics presentation. She touched on all the key aspects on why it is important to be vocal to defend the pre-born life and how we can do so efficiently. She explained eloquently about the beauty of life, of how human life is present from the moment of conception and must be protected. She also expanded on the difficult reality of pregnancies, and on the many reasons why women today choose to abort their children. It was a talk that brought out a strong sense of compassion, and I myself learned a lot from it.
The participants were enthusiastic and attentive and had a lot of follow-up questions. It made for a dynamic, insightful and also uplifting event.

Julia spoke to the several projects that CLCY is involved in which. I will give a brief description, but to get a more in-depth information, feel free to contact Maeve or Julia directly: [email protected]

—CLCY runs a paid Summer Internship during the summer. Both Julia and Maeve have done the internship before being hired on staff. Each summer, Campaign Life Coalition hires a dozen interns to work in Canada’s pro-life movement. It is a great overall experience where participants get exposed to all the facets of pro-life work in Canada.
—The Yearly Washington trip is coming up in January. CLCY organizes a bus to go to the Washington March for Life in the States. This event has been a catalyst and an eye-opener for the youth in attendance. If you’ve been to the Ottawa March for Life, you must know that the Washington March is in a different league! This year, there is a possibility of a bus from Montreal/Ottawa going to the Washington March.
—CLCY in also involved on the international scene! Each year, CLC sends delegates to the United Nations! Specifically, they will be attending four yearly commissions that touch on our core mission. Our CLCY youth delegates will have many opportunities to be the voice for life and for the family in rooms overwhelmed with pro-abortion radicals. As much as United Nations resolutions are non-binding on their member states, these resolutions do have a strong influence on policies around the world.
—Apart from these special events, there are regular volunteer activities that can be done across the country (including here in Quebec), like activism, prayer vigils, helping with pregnant women, doing pamphleting or door knocking, help with office work and event planning. Send us a shout if you want to volunteer: [email protected]
