Quebec needs us
Quebec needs us. Now more than ever, la Belle province is sinking into a culture of death — normalized, technical, and silent.
In just three years, the use of the abortion pill in Quebec has doubled. Every year, around 20,000 unborn children are lost to abortion — and now, the goal is to make the process as easy as picking up a prescription. Soon, pharmacists will be authorized to prescribe the abortion pill without any examination or ultrasound. Medicine is reduced to a protocol. Human life, to a “product to eliminate.”
And as if that weren’t enough, left-wing party Québec solidaire is pushing to make contraception free, with potential support from the "centrist" CAQ. This wasteful public spending is being justified in the name of “women’s health,” even though hormonal contraception can cause serious side effects — including cancer and mental health issues. Worse still, some contraceptives have abortifacient effects.
Faced with this downward spiral, will we remain silent?
It’s up to us to act. It’s no longer enough to simply denounce. We must rebuild a culture of life — starting with concrete action, like standing together at the March for Life in Quebec City, Saturday, May 31, in front of the National Assembly.
Let’s gather in great numbers to boldly proclaim that every human life, from conception to natural death, deserves protection.

Let me close with this question:
What kind of society do we want to leave our children?
If we want Quebec to once again be a place that cherishes life, we must live that out — starting now.
Looking forward to seeing you on May 31 in Quebec City:

A Message to Canadians After the Federal Election
The federal election has just taken place, and naturally, the results stir up a mix of emotions. Today, however, I invite you to take a step back.
Even if you’re not from Quebec, I strongly encourage you to read my message titled:
➡️ A Call to Quebecers the Day After the Federal Election
Its message resonates far beyond provincial borders—with all Canadians and, in many ways, with people across the Western world.
Let us remember: an election does not define everything.
💡 Culture is not changed by ballot boxes alone—it shifts slowly, over time. Often, we must wait until the consequences of poor decisions accumulate so visibly that society, in humility, finally turns back and seeks a better path.
Let us be patient in the way we accompany our society—yet not passive. Serenity is not passivity. It is hopeful, purposeful action, trusting in God’s timing.
And indeed, sometimes God acts suddenly and miraculously.
Think of San Juan Diego and the miraculous image of Our Lady of Guadalupe—how that one event brought about the conversion of countless Indigenous peoples and ended human sacrifice.
Why not pray and fast together, asking God to send such a sign of hope and change right here in Quebec—and across Canada?
✅ In the meantime, let’s act.
There is so much we can do today—concrete, transformative actions that go beyond voting once every four years. I've compiled a list of true levers of cultural renewal:
➡️ More Than Just Voting: Real Paths to Change
🗓 Two Big Opportunities Coming Up!
Let’s meet in person to act, witness, and build the culture of life together:

The key to building a true Culture of Life
As you’ve likely heard, Pope Francis has recently passed away. His pontificate leaves behind a complex legacy: some of his words and decisions sadly sowed confusion and concern among many believers committed to defending faith, family, and life. Today, the Church is preparing to elect a new successor to Saint Peter, and I warmly invite you to pray that the next pope will be a true defender of these foundational values—able to guide Christians around the world with courage and clarity in the face of today’s challenges.
Here in Canada, we too are facing important decisions with the upcoming federal election. At Quebec Life Coalition, we’ve prepared clear and accessible resources to help you vote pro-life:
-
Our friends at CLC's “Vote Pro-Life” website.
-
Our practical guide: “How to Vote from a Pro-Life Perspective”
These valuable tools will help you discern which candidates are committed to protecting human dignity—from conception to natural death.
Still, we must remember that building a true culture of life goes far beyond elections or legislation. In our heavily secularized Western society, real and lasting change can only come through divine grace. Remember: David only defeated Goliath after he was anointed by God, and Moses parted the sea after he was called by Him. In other words, major cultural and political transformations begin with personal conversion—a sincere return to God.
Our role, humble yet essential, is to keep the faith alive in our homes, to boldly witness to the truth about life and family, and to patiently await the day when God Himself will act powerfully to crown our efforts in this country.
Let us continue to pray together, to act with faithfulness and humility, and to wait with joy and hope for the decisive intervention of God in our history.

We recently held a virtual meeting with a representative from the Quebec Secretariat for Democratic Institutions Reform, Access to Information and Secularism, led by Minister Jean-François Roberge.
Alongside our allies from Citizen Go and UVVC (United Voice for Christian Values), we expressed our serious concern over Premier François Legault’s pre-Christmas proposal to ban public prayer.
We also announced our plan to deliver a petition opposing this ban—signed by over 12,000 Canadians—to Minister Roberge’s office on May 30, the day before our March for Life.

How to Vote from a Pro-Life Perspective
The federal election campaign is in full swing. To help you make an informed and faithful choice, Quebec Life Coalition has prepared a guide titled:
👉 “How to Vote from a Pro-Life Perspective”
I encourage you to read it carefully—and above all, to share it with your friends and family.
Mark Carney: A Dangerously Alluring Figure
By a strange herd effect—and if polls are to be believed—Mark Carney seems to have won over the hearts of many Canadians. Yet for those of us who cherish faith, family, and life, this momentum is a serious cause for concern.
Until recently, Carney held three passports (Irish, British, and Canadian). This alone raises the question: does he embody the kind of patriotism Canada needs to navigate the coming times? More importantly, he does not uphold the Christian values essential to our personal and national salvation.
Time and again, Carney has betrayed his Catholic faith by openly supporting abortion and LGBT ideology—as shown in this article.
Jack Fonseca of Campaign Life Coalition even warns that Carney could be worse than Justin Trudeau. How did we get so close to this cliff’s edge? It is urgent that we turn around now—for the sake of our country, our families, and our faith.
The Battle Continues, Regardless of Who Leads Next
No matter who becomes our next Prime Minister, we must continue to proclaim the Gospel of Life.
But a dangerous threat looms: a federal pre-budget committee has recommended revoking charitable status from religious organizations whose moral teachings do not align with so-called "modern standards." If implemented, this measure would force many Christian ministries to close their doors.
If you haven’t already, we urge you to sign and share our petition to protect the freedom of believers in Canada:
Don’t Forget: 40 Days for Life and Upcoming Marches
Let us not forget: prayer is our first weapon. The 40 Days for Life campaign continues in Montreal. Please come and join us as we pray for an end to abortion.
And mark your calendars for these important dates:
📍 March for Life in Ottawa – Thursday, May 8, 2025 (Parliament Hill, 12:00 PM)
📍 March for Life in Quebec City – Saturday, May 31, 2025 (National Assembly, 11:00 AM)
Let us remain faithful, clear-sighted, and active. Together, let us be bold witnesses to the culture of life that the Lord desires for His people—and for all people of good will.
For Life,
Georges Buscemi
President, Quebec Life Coalition
Deeply troubling double-speak
Thanks to your generosity over the past three weeks, we have reached our $15,000 goal for our Lenten fundraising campaign. From the bottom of my heart — thank you! Your support allows us to continue defending and promoting the Christian faith, the natural family, and human life from conception to natural death, even in a political and cultural climate often hostile to these fundamental truths.
One of the most concerning developments in recent days is the candidacy of Mark Carney, former Governor of the Bank of Canada. Carney publicly identifies as a practising Catholic, yet he has declared himself to be “absolutely” in favour of abortion — without reservation. In his own words:
“I absolutely support a woman’s right to choose, without reservation, and I will defend it just as the Liberal Party has: with pride and consistency.”
This kind of double-speak — claiming to be Catholic while defending abortion — is deeply troubling and, as Campaign Life Coalition recently stated, scandalous. Let us also not forget that Carney was among the first to call for a forceful crackdown on the 2022 Freedom Convoy, describing the protesters as seditious in a Globe and Mail op-ed.
In this uncertain election season, as we await to see who will become Canada’s next Prime Minister, we must act now to protect our churches and charitable organizations. A critical petition is underway to oppose the very real threat of revoking charitable status for religious groups. If you haven’t already signed it, please do so today. The link is below:
Finally, a reminder that the Marches for Life are fast approaching:
- National March for Life in Ottawa: Thursday, May 8, 2025 (Website)
- Quebec March for Life in Quebec City: Saturday, May 31, 2025 (Website)
Thank you again for your faithful support. Together, and by God’s grace, we will continue to shine the light of truth and defend the most vulnerable among us.
For Life,
Georges Buscemi
President, Quebec Life Coalition
P.S. If you haven’t yet donated to our Lenten fundraising campaign, this is your last chance. Your donation is a powerful gesture in defence of faith, family, and life in a culture that has lost its way. Please give today to keep this vital mission going.
Read moreSuicide or Revival? The Choice Is Ours.
In an interview broadcast five days ago, American Vice President J.D. Vance asserted that Europe was "at risk of engaging in civilizational suicide." Whatever you think of the current U.S. vice president, on that point, he's right: low birth rates—due in large part to mass abortion—no-border mass immigration from countries that do not share the values that made Europe great, and Europe's forsaking of Christian culture all point to a future where Europe simply dissolves itself out of existence, like a decaying corpse.
Well, the same can be said for most, if not all, Western countries—including, and most especially, a certain part of Canada called "Quebec." One could say that Quebec already attempted suicide in the 1960s when it underwent the "Quiet Revolution" and cut itself off from its Christian roots. Today, sadly, as its birth rate dwindles and francophones become a minority in la Belle Province, Quebec is doubling down on banning religion from the public square—first by floating a ban on public prayer, then by evicting church groups from government buildings, including city-owned spaces and community centres.
It’s coming to a point where, instead of a Western, Christian society, Quebecers are living in a death-loving, communism-embracing society. Recently, I read a Facebook post from an émigré from Communist Romania who, several years ago, moved to Canada. She openly wondered: "What was the point of moving to Canada, now that we're more communist here than where I fled from?"
We can ask ourselves the same thing in Quebec: what's the point of staying here, when things are getting worse, not better—more communistic, more death-loving? (Quebec is now the world champion of assisted suicide.)
But the answer to the question why stay? is that God has a plan for us. We at QLC believe God wants us here. God is merciful. He doesn't want Quebec—or any other Western society—to perish, but rather to come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). He sends forth His spokespeople to show the way out of bondage to sin.
At QLC, we have been pointing the way to faith, family, and life—from conception to natural death—for years. God put us here to be the seeds of renewal. And yes, it can be very hard, because a seed bears no fruit unless it dies (John 12:24).
Every day, the QLC team is doing God's work, under the radar, under the soil, dying to self: Brian prays and witnesses at 40 Days for Life and helps pregnant women in need, Arpad is networking at events or taking notes and asking difficult questions at the UN, and Augustin is covering Quebec and international news from a pro-life, pro-family perspective. These might not be grand geopolitical chess moves—often, these tasks are thankless—but they are the seeds that will grow in God's good time.
And you know what? We are growing.
Whenever we engage in these necessary quarterly fundraisers, we normally struggle to reach our goal—but not so much anymore. The many of you who have given so promptly and generously are showing us that our work is increasingly valued and appreciated. From across the country, and even as far as Africa, people are giving to QLC because they recognize that our fight is their fight. Our message is God's message of love to lost Western societies on the brink of civilizational suicide!
The harvest may not come tomorrow (it will in God's good time), but the ground is being readied for a restoration of the West. If it heeds the call, Quebec—and the rest of the West—instead of committing suicide, will, thanks to God's work through us, be given new life.
This Spring—a time of sacrifice, prayer, and giving for many—thank you for joining us in extending God's mercy to Quebec, Canada, and beyond.
Please give so that we can keep giving, too.
For Life,
Georges Buscemi
President, Quebec Life Coalition
P.S. If you haven’t yet given, now is the time. Your donation is a stand for faith, family, and life in a culture that has lost its way. Please give today so that we can continue this vital mission.

I want to thank all of those who gave last Saturday for our United Nations work. My colleague Arpad and QLC volunteer Annick are at the United Nations in New York right now, bringing the light of truth about faith, family and the humanity of the unborn child to the Commission for the Status of Women annual conference, where thousands gather, many of whom zealously promote the killing of children in the womb. This Saturday, Arpad and Annick will be sending back a report on all the action that took place, so stay tuned.
On the Quebec front, I have great news: finally, our Website for the Quebec March for Life to be held this May 31 in Quebec City is up and running.
==>Here’s the link to the Quebec March for Life Website.
All the information on the biggest yearly pro-life event in Quebec is there to be shared. Can you do me a favour? If you are on Facebook, can you indicate whether you are “interested” or are “going” to the event on May 31st? Here is the link to the Facebook event:
Here’s the link to the Quebec March for Life FB event.
Also, once you’ve indicated whether you will be there or are “interested”, please, please invite your Facebook friends to attend, as well. Each person can invite up to 500 Facebook “friends”. With your help, we can make sure that all pro-lifers in Quebec – and in Canada, for that matter – know about this important annual pro-life event.
Here, again, is the link to the Quebec March for Life FB event.
Also, I want to update you on our Emergency Petition to save Christianity in Quebec and in Canada, to be sent to the next Prime minister of Canada – and that seems to be Mark Carney– encouraging him to reject the recommendations to revoke the charitable status of pro-life and religious organizations in Canada.
You can sign or share the petition, here: https://www.cqv.qc.ca/christianisme_canada
At a time when, in Quebec, Christian church groups are being kicked out of city-owned buildings to respect Quebec’s “secularism” law, we have to do our utmost to defend our right to assemble and speak the truth about faith, family and life, from conception until natural death.
Again, you can sign or share our petition against revoking the charitable status of religious and pro-life organizations, here: https://www.cqv.qc.ca/christianisme_canada
Finally, we are one week into our Lent 2025 fundraiser, and we’re doing well thanks to the generosity of pro-lifers from across Canada. We have so far raised $ 6,845, with 8,155 $ to go. If you have already given, thank you for your generosity. If you haven’t yet had a chance, please give sacrificially today. We need your help to continue.
For Life,
Georges Buscemi
President, Quebec Life Coalition
P.S. Please give what you can today to support our Lenten fundraising campaign. Your donation helps us raise awareness of the urgent need to defend the unborn, preserve the traditional family, and place God at the center of our lives.
A Season of Sacrifice
Today, Wednesday, March 5, marks not only the beginning of Lent for many but also the launch of 40 Days for Life—a global prayer and fasting vigil held outside abortion centers in hundreds of cities worldwide. In Montreal, my colleague Brian Jenkins is organizing this 40-day vigil at the corner of Berri and Sainte-Catherine every day from 7 AM to 7 PM. Come pray with us for an end to abortion.
But March 5 also marks the launch of our Lenten Fundraising Campaign for 2025. We are setting ourselves a goal of raising $15,000 in three weeks to continue our mission of defending faith, family, and life. We've already received some donations today and we are grateful! We need your help to reach this goal!
➡ Make a donation today to support our efforts.
Meanwhile, our petition opposing the attack on Christian charities is approaching 4,000 signatures! If you haven’t signed it yet, we encourage you to do so and share it with those around you. This threat is real, and we must take action to defend Christianity in Canada.
Finally, preparations for the Quebec City March for Life on May 31, 2025, are well underway. Very soon, we will launch a dedicated website and Facebook page. This Sunday, we will begin visiting churches to promote this vital annual event.
Thank you for your prayers and support.
God bless you,
Georges Buscemi
President, Quebec Life Coalition
P.S. Please give what you can today to support our Lenten fundraising campaign. In this season of sacrifice, think of the unborn children targeted by abortion and the vulnerable targeted by euthanasia. Our society needs God. Your donation helps us raise awareness of the urgent need to place God at the center of our personal and civic life.
